Short Story: What do you think?

One day came and one day went for everyone. Sometimes though the days that come and go are the last days for some and the first day for others; and, of course then there is the group of people that just see each day as another day. What type of person are you? Sam didn’t think she was the type of person who saw each day as a birth or death- each day was just another day.
Sam walks past the shops and down the long path, through the park, before she gets home. She was supposed to take the subway or the bus; however, she walked. She was fifteen and born her in
Tonight was different. Tonight she raced home a little early, still did not take the bus, and met the mailman. She was going to go to singing camp and be the next: model/singer/actress! Her dreams were all about to be a reality. The thing is that she hadn’t asked permission from her mom yet. Dad left the picture when Sam was six and now her mom is a working machine who doesn’t date. Her life is centered on her little Samantha Jones Harris. She sees her as a little baby still and does not want to let anything disappoint her again like she thinks her father did. However, Sam never thinks he disappointed her because she doesn’t remember him every promising her anything. Sam did not want to be a part of his life if he was so set on not being a part of hers. She sticks with her mom and tries to pay some bills with her job at the cookie and ice cream store.
Sam was about to turn sixteen and ready for a party. Her boyfriend Jimmy and best friend Lisa are throwing a bash at the ice cream store for Sam. They are going to come in right at eight when she gets off on Saturday- manager said he would provide free food and close the doors to people we put on a list of twenty. Sam had no clue it was going to happen.
The birthday girl wakes up stretches her arms and looks in the mirror, “I’m sixteen.”
I am going to take on the world now. I got this. Let’s go jog, shower, breakfast, and work. After work call the hunk I call a boyfriend over and I am going to have sex. Yes sir. I can’t wait till tonight- the best part is that he will think it was unplanned. I better shop for protection before I go to work.
Heading out for my jog I strapped on my pouch, popped in the headphones and turned it up to “a pumping my heart increase up” level! I am ready to go. Stretch my legs. Back. Arms and I am out! Around the bend, down the sidewalk, up the street, cross over, down there, and around, and back in one hour as always running a consistent speed of about 2.5 or so. Anyway, I got to get a move on it to get to the store in time.
As I walked in the front door mom had decorated and had made me blueberry pancakes for breakfast. It was so cute of her. There were balloons of my favorite colors aqua, pink, and yellow. She always does this and I always love it. She had to go to work to so it was a quick little mother daughter moment I could not hold from her. We ate pancakes and talked about when she was sixteen. Before we knew it we both were saying we were late and grabbed a pancake for the road. I decide to take a condom from my mom’s room. The pack was not even open, I hope she doesn’t notice. It was pretty dusty to I hope they are not too old! I was laughing on the floor for a minute. Soon I got my composure together dressed and was out the door. I still cannot believe there is no rule about people not having to work on their birthdays.
I took a cab to work because I was running late and mom had given me some money. So, I made it on time. I slipped in through the back and was upfront serving a little kid a nice cone filled with vanilla ice scream. Out of all the flavors available why do people pick the simple one likes vanilla and chocolate. Funny thing is I try all the other ones but when I pay my own money I get one or the other too! Jimmy likes mint chocolate chip.
The bell on the door rings, in walks another customer. It is a flower guy. I have a delivery with a dozen red roses and a happy birthday card. The card reads, “Can’t wait to see you- happy birthday! Jimmy! Jimmy and I have plans after work. He probably bought me something really nice and has some nice way of giving it to me- underneath stars maybe- at the park- he knows I love it there. Jimmy is a few years older than me; we have been dating for almost a year. It would make him my first love. He has been in love before- but he is older. He has graduated high school. My mom thinks he is in his senior year. She was mad over that. He isn’t a virgin either or a sex freak. He just was almost married to this girl and she cheated. So then we met and took it slow. Tonight is the night though. It is my birthday or our one year anniversary. Besides he says he is ready and wants to really bad.
The day went by as usual. There was a lot of customers, and after walking in the door for five minutes you knew it was my birthday. The crew was great and joked all day making the hours pass and it not suck so bad that I was working on my birthday. Then they told me that the pest control company was coming and we had to close early- I was so happy that I would be able to be one on one with Jimmy sooner than I thought. I washed up the floors and we closed up the doors and counted out the drawers. I looked up and Jimmy was knocking at the door. I opened it up and let him in. I went to go use the bathroom and I came out to everyone of my friends there! It was a surprise party! I had no clue!
The party was excellent and even my boss and parents were in on it. I didn’t spend much time with Jimmy though and when the party was over my parent took me home- it was almost twelve. We were all having such a good time. I tossed and turned all night. There was no sleeping happening. I wanted to lose my virginity to Jimmy tonight and now I am stuck up here, sleeping, and my birthday is going away. The clock was passing so fast. I was not tired. My mom had already turned out the hall lights meaning she was in bed. It was almost two. I started to hear these clicks on my window. I walked over and looked out. Jimmy was standing on my lawn with praying hands to let him come up. There was a patio out my window he managed to climb up and he came into my room. I was so scared that my mom would wake up. I locked the door and told him to be really quite. I was so nervous and didn’t know what to do. He said he had forgotten to give me my gift. I didn’t realize it till then that he was right. He told me to close my eyes and he came behind me and put a necklace around my neck. The charm was a silver heart. It was small, simple, and honest. We kissed and kissed. He slowly unbuttoned my shirt and pulled my pants down. He seemed to be able to take his clothes and mine off at the same time as kissed me directing me to the bed. We lied down. He felt nice. His lips were soft. His hands knew what to do. Then I thought I heard my mom coming to the door. It wasn’t. And it was done. He was up and dressing. I had no idea what had happened. I was lost for words and we kissed me telling me he better go before mom comes through those doors and kills him. It was done.
